Breast Pump

Well, been surfing the net and realise that if I intend to BF (at least till 6 months), the best pump (according to the web) seems to be Avent ISIS Duo Pump. Hmmmmmm... still comptemplating whether to invest in Avent or Medela PIS.

Any advice from mummies?

I am curious

Well, one sign that my boy is growing. His feeding time is lengthen.... from 10 mins to 30 mins. He spend 10 mins eating and the rest of the time looking around, turning his head, kicking his legs, stretching his body, while poor me holding onto the milk bottle, carefully balancing him and the milk bottle and praying hard that he finish his milk FAST!!!!

He starts to recognise my voice and will respond (sometimes by smiling) and turn his head towards me. Well, a reward of motherhood, and one for spuring me on. Guess going to miss his smile when I go back to work.

ML shortened

I have decided, after encouragement from MIL and JY, to go back to work after 2 months and take the rest of the one month one day by one day :-)

This is because:
1) I am bored at home, not that I have a lot of idling time or I am not tired looking after Ernest, but I need some intellectual stimulation of the brain, rather than baby talk for the whole day.
2) I can use the rest of the ML for his injection or anything urgent.
3) Working is eaiser than taking care of baby, less emotional taxing (other than office politics)

I wlll be returning to work next week, should be next Friday, so I must go shopping more often before next Friday.

Life is good after installing Sarong

Installed Sarong on last Sat, and guess what, Ernest slep through the afternoon, missing his feeds :-p Even though I woke him up, he fell back to sleep. What a sleepy baby I have.

Going to worship whoever is the one who invented Sarong. Ernest quiet down once he is placed in sarong, and will fall asleep after that.

Hope this will continue :-)

Taste of freedom

Well, had my first 'Ernest-free' day yesterday. Sort of mixed feelings.

Sad - cause I miss him..... Kind of like don't know what to do with all the free time. Like the focus of life (at the moment) is suddenly taken away..

Happy - I got all the time in the world (although it is only a day) to do the things I want, can blast the music, can surf net, can do online banking. And I did my pedicure :-) After a month of confinement, finally my toes are presentable again :-)

Well, though Ernest is not with me, but I am not lazing, I have been diligently expressing the milk for him. Want him to have the benefits of breast milk (even though not exclusively) for at least this 3 months (let's see how long I/supply can last).

The moment I reached my in-law's place, I heard him cry, and guess wat? I dashed forward, knocking the maid (who kindly opened the door for me)and Ernest was jus fussing, as MIL took out the milk bottle to adjust the position. Well, guess mother instinct is really kicking in.

Hmmmm.... 6 more days to another Ernest-free day... He he.... Great Singapore Sale, here I come :-)

My experience of Motherhood so far

1st 2 weeks : All hell break loose, there is no day and night, he sleep in the day, and demand feeding at night every hourly or so, and once or twice, from 3am to 6am, carried him to sleep :-( Very tiring, I think I look worst than the Panda. Couldn't tell one cry from another....

2nd week onwards : switched to bottle feed, and could rest while parents take care of him, and has more or less settled down on a schedule. Now JY and I could differentiate the different cries for different needs.

5th weeks : Ernest has learnt to smile and giggle :-) Well, don't think he knows he's smiling or giggling. Kind of scary at first, in the middle of his sleep, he jus giggle. He also learnt to pout... Wonder who he picked it up from? And he also got startled by the 'Zzzz Monster' in the middle of his sleep. I have gotten used to his schedule and could handle him alone. But I declare 'me time' every Wednesday :-) as I need a break from him to remain my sainity and also not to struggle him too much.

Well overall motherhood is full of ups and downs, guess a lot of things are out of my expectations. Hmmmmm I never did enough homework before birth *Sigh*

My precious : Ernest Yong

Long time never blog, as the PC at Mummy's place was down. Well, Ernest is born on 10 Apr, 6.40pm with a weight of 3.5kg (now he's weighing at 4.77kg, at 50th percentile). And I am now more or less settle down as a new mum..

Motherhood is really not easy.. Or maybe I was too idealistic in the past?

Got to go, feeding time approaching.
